Republicans Are Killing Americans And It's Time to Put A Stop To It

They are the party of death. Despite their faux-embrace of "pro-life" rhetoric, they are the party of death. There. I said it. I'm tired of mincing words.

This week, I received yet more notices of yet more deaths at the hands of America's Immoral Minority. A woman in Idaho Falls died a preventable death (asthma) and left her husband, 43, a widower, all because she could not get the health care she needed due to the Republican refusal, in her state, to expand medicaid.

Then last night, another. A young man in North Carolina left behind grieving parentsunnecessarily due to that state's refusal to expand medicaid.

In Michigan, our citizen activism division, Go Left America has been uncovering the story of over 98,000 Michigan residents being exposed to toxic and irreversible levels of lead in their drinking water. It's gotten so bad that we've teamed up with the Michigan ACLU and are calling for Snyder to resign or be removed from office.  The reality of this policy will effect residents as well as their progeny and can be traced back directly to the state's governor, Rick Snyder.

These stories pour into my inbox and newsfeed Every. Single. Day.

I'm sick of it.

Whether it's the closing of clinics that serve poor and working poor women and their families; police departments that are abusive and completely unaccountable; lack of access to the basic right of health care; shootings in our malls, theaters and schools; or a complete disregard for environmental standards, the Republicans, who comfortably control the majority of state legislatures, are an Immoral Minority in America and they are killing Americans directly through their policies.

I'm sick of it. It's time to act.

FIRST Go Vote. Tomorrow, Tuesday November 3rd, elections are being held in municipalities across the country. You can check here to see if yours is one of them. If so, VOTE. If not, SPREAD THE WORD in your social media circles.

SECOND Make the pledge TODAY. I don't care whether you're #feelingthebern or are #readyforhillary. Make a pledge TODAY to devote one hour of volunteer time to a local or state candidate for every two you give to a federal level candidate. And pledge to give $1 to local and state candidates or your local Democratic committee for every $2 you give to a federal one. If there is anything we know from working exclusively with state and local candidates, it's that candidates and committees NEVER have enough support nor enough volunteers. They need you. America needs you.

By the end of 2015, directly as a result of their immoral refusal to expand medicaid, Republicans will have been directly responsible for 17,000 American deaths in just one year. More than FIVE TIMES the number who died on 9/11 in NYC. An innumerable number of additional deaths and ruined lives will come to pass because of their regressive, sociopathic, immoral worldview and policies.

IT'S ENOUGH.

We have work to. Make the pledge. Spread the word. Challenge others to do the same.
