It’s game time and we have a LOT of work to do. I’ll be vlogging and blogging about the Work That Matters in the coming days and months but to get started, since we have hundreds of women marching today in my backyard here in Washington D.C., I felt this was a good time to blog this.
If you plan to engage in any political activism of any kind between now and 2020, memorize this phrase and repeat it loudly any time there are news cameras or cell phone cameras pointed at you. If you are a social media person, make memes of this. Tweet it. Facebook it. Instagram it. Video it. This one sentence explains why we will do what we will be doing — whatever that happens to be. From running for office at any level, to protesting, to subversive tactics, to Democratic lawmakers at every level who will — and must — obstruct and challenge Trumpian/Ryanoid regressive Republican legislation. Whatever we are doing, this is the very justifiable reason.
We have a fascist government that’s been installed by a foreign enemy power. I am a proud and patriotic American who is fighting the tyranny of a hostile foreign takeover of our government. USA! USA!
I really don’t feel like I need to break down this language or the rationale behind it for the DKos reader. It’s obviously intentional and yes, we tested it.
In my next post, I’ll be talking about how to begin organizing in your community to not only “fight back” but to actually gain ground. The time for talk and niceties and convention is completely over.
